Building Blocks - Post Op Day 25

This past weekend we were able to finally burn some brush that we had on the land from all the dozing.
One of the smaller piles we burned on Saturday night and had s'mores! YUM!
I love being out on the land and relaxing by a fire.

On Sunday we went to Light of Tejas. We thought Jace would love all the lights considering how his eyes light up when the Christmas tree timer turns the lights on at home.

The entrance is incredible and just full of lights!

Handsome happy boy :)

So, as you all know I am surprised more and more every day with what Jace does and can do.
The past couple of weeks he finally started to play with his blocks and mega bloks (big legos).
Well he was stacking blocks and he kept going and going and well look at how tall this got!!

Starting out....

Blurry - he was excited to be getting his picture taken!

This was nearly as tall at he is!

Another new skill is catching a ball! I have to give a little credit to Cade for helping Jace with this.
I never thought to tell Jace to put his hands together to catch the ball and it worked!!
I have video proof he can catch - watch:

On top of this, he has been picking up words much quicker!
Like bird, tweet tweet, cloud, etc......I can't wait for him to be back in speech therapy! I KNOW he will just flourish even more!

Today we went to see Dr. Von Allmen for his post op check up.
She could tell that he is better and a different child! This makes me SO happy!
Its so great to see the doctors see a difference and feel good about it.

She said that we want to let him heal more from this surgery and then start to wean medications.
We will look more into this a 6 months post op. I am so excited about this!
I can't even tell you how much I know he will come out of his shell once those nasty groggy meds are stopped!
We are asking for more prayers from Jace's Prayer Posse! Please pray that we will get to wean Jace from his medications (in God's timing) and will never need to be on medications ever again!

Dr. Von Allmen also said to be sure we treat Jace as a normal child - because he is! Especially with discipline. He is all there, alert, and he is very capable of catching on when he can and can't get away with stuff. Boy - we have noticed this and I admit, we have never really been THAT easy on Jace with discipline. I knew he was catching most of it but not even more. A lot of what he knew was no-no's before stopping seizures he has retained.

She told us to return in 2 months (for a 3 month post op appt) unless that time comes and we don't feel we need to be seen then we can cancel it. She does want us back in 6 months and that is when we will discuss weaning meds and a possible EEG. Not sure if she wants to do this before or after weaning meds.

Oh and I have to say I LOVE this doctor and her staff!
Jace was given a Christmas gift today at the appointment.
How sweet is that!?!!? :)

Speaking of gifts - we received another gift from a co-worker this past week.
A cute doctor build a bear! Jace loves it!

JB and I got our Christmas gift in! We finally have a bedroom suite!
We had been using dresser and chester drawers from when JB was growing up.
They worked but not well and it was pretty frustrating.
I LOVE our new bedroom! Its a little rustic but very classy!

After moving all the furniture and getting our couches cleaned and removing all of Lil Bit's hair, we decided to get Lil Bit her own bed. She likes to snuggle up on soft things and our couches are dark - her hair is light. It was OBVIOUS she was on the couches. We are going to attempt to break her from getting on the couches and use her new bed. I think she will take to it  - she has been laying on her bed all evening so far :)
