Enter a Playground for Your Mind

We took a trip to the Children's Museum of Houston on Saturday.

We met up with Lauren, Nick and Ryker!

We started off at the Tot Spot where children up to 3 years old can play and explore.
Its all soft and full of toys perfect for this age!

Last year Jace was barely able to walk this "bridge" - this year he has MASTERED it!

I SEE YOU!!

Driving Dada

Ryker's turn to drive the truck!

Who is that I see down there!??!
Oh that's DADA!!!

I don't build....I DESTROY!!!

Knock Knock.....who's there?

I'm not afraid to drive the pink car :)

The boys took a ride on the pulley seat......The dada's of course pulled them :)

Time to go grocery shopping!!

They 2 got to chase the lights

And then it was dancing time....

We ended the day at the Tot Spot one more time........Jace LOVED the trucks there!

These two were WORE out after 3 hours of nonstop playtime!

Jace enjoyed the museum WAY more than I had expected and it is something we will need to look at doing again soon! Great summer entertainment.......indoors and educational!

Happy Dada's Day

JB got his very first Father's Day tie! :)
They made these at daycare and I have to say its very unique!

Think JB will wear it at the next formal event?
Yeah I didn't think so either but its a keeper for sure!

Jace and I gave JB a collage for his office.

This isn't the best picture of it but you get the "picture" - No pun intended HA! :)

Today we had Jace's follow up appointment with his epileptologist. She suggested we get him evaluated with a physical therapist. She agrees that the way his feet turn in so much is neurological, especially since it tends to get worse when his seizures are out of control. We may need to look into getting a brace or something to help prevent the tendency that his feet have to turn in.
Jace's MRI and Renal Ultrasound came back normal. Well the kidneys are normal and the MRI showed no other changes from previous MRIs. The medical students are the ones that looked over the MRI reports so Dr. Von Allmen said that if she sees something that she needs to lets us know about that she will call us - otherwise she won't contact us. So no news will be good news. :)
Also we discussed the seizure and medication roller coaster. We plan to have another 23 hour EEG sometime this summer and see what it shows. Since the increase in his Banzel has helped we are going to wait and see how things progress as he gets older and bigger. If he starts to stop developing or his seizures get to become out of control and an increase in meds doesn't help then we will push on to more aggressive treatment (surgery). If the 23 hour EEG shows just as bad activity as there was back in December then we may push forward to surgery. However, until something like this comes up we are going to wait until Jace is older, stronger and his seizures are much more focal.
So to sum it all up we are going to wait and see for now with his seizures.
We are going to get into a PT soon to be evaluated.

On the way home today JB got Jace to say words after we said them. He has been slowly but surely starting to mimick us. Justin asked him to say "Cade" and he said it! We had to record it and send to it to Cade. Cade got a kick out of the video. The best part is what Jace does when we tell him to tell Cade "Hi"

What Does Mommy Say??

*Pause Music on Left Sidebar before watching videos*

If you ask Jace what a Duck says he will say Quack......ask what a Cow says he will say Moo.....
Ask what mommy says and well he points his finger at you and fusses at you!
Do I fuss at him that much? YIKES!
However, I admit I laugh EVERYTIME he does this! Its funny and he does it so well - almost too well!
Here are two different clips:

Another new thing Jace has started doing is purposely putting his hand or foot under or in something and saying "Oh Is Sduck" (Oh Its Stuck) It too funny and the best part is that he is putting words together!! :)

With summer approaching we have the backyard all set up and ready to go!

This past weekend JB went to Lexington to do more work on the barn and Jace and I stayed in Houston.
We took a trip to the park nearby and Jace had fun. It was HOT so we didn't stay long.

Heading up the stairs to the Slide!
Jace is a master of slides! :) At home Jace likes when I count to three when he slides.

But Jace's FAVORITE thing to do is swing!
But even that didn't last long in this heat! Look at those RED cheeks!

Break time to rehydrate in the shade

The next day Jace must have been so worn out still - he fell asleep in his swing at home. This rarely happens! HA! Its too funny and even though it was not nap time I took him to his bed and let him nap.
He needed the nap early before church anyway.

On the downside of recent happenings, Jace has been cutting his 2 year molars! I have felt like I have had a newborn in the house with the way that he has been waking at night! YIKES!

I don't want to blame it all on his teeth but its hard not to. There could be the possibility that he is about to hit a big development change or a growth spurt - even though I think he just hit a growth spurt! We had proof when they weighed him and measured him before his MRI.
He is finally out of the lower part of the growth curve - even in height!

Hot Dog Hot Dog Hot Diggity Dog

*Pause music on left side bar before watching videos*

Jace's hair was really cute with curls but it was starting to get quite unruly! We HAD to at least get it trimmed. We know his hair grows so quick that really just a trim would have been pointless.
Justin had to work on Saturday so I took Jace to get his hair cut. He was great! All he needed was a lollipop and everything was good! :) They even got to use the trimmers on his ears and neck without a peep!
I think the most impressive part to this was that I didn't take him to a "kid" salon. I took him to a regular salon and the lady was GREAT with him. We will most likely continue to go back to her.

Culry Q waiting for his haircut

DumDum Pops make anything easy!

"All Done"

Posing like a little GQ cover model
After the haircut it was nap time....and craft time for mommy!

Nap took longer than it should have because the little monkey wanted to play and jump in his crib

I have been wanting this machine called Silhouette! After coming to the conclusion that we should not be spending frivolous money like that I dropped that idea and kept it on my wish list for later.

But when I came home one day from work I saw a box on the front step with the address label that said Silhouette! Justin ordered it for me as a surprise! I am SO blessed to have such an incredible husband. Its not that he got me something but that even after I said I didn't want it after throwing a "fit" like I had days before he still bought it for me. The most exciting thing about this is you can do almost anything crafty with it! My first project is Jace's birthday party decorations! I could easily go out and buy decorations but making them is not only cheaper but it means so much more to me! He has no idea right now but one day he may look back and appreciate the effort I put in to make his day have a certain personal touch.

Silhouette hard at work!

John Deere emblem cut out with Silhouette

Birthday Banner in progress
Close up of final banner

Just need to get twine and string the letters together!
Jace has really been into his tractor lately so we decided to do a tractor theme for his birthday next month. John Deere "stuff" is expensive so I am so excited to be able to save a little by making these things myself!

Loungin' on my sofa watching Toy Story

Lovin' on Mommy!
We could never get Jace to put a hat on his head much less leave it on for a while. Recently he has been putting them on himself! We have a cowboy hat in the living room that he can play with. He put it on and started grooving last weekend!

Along with the hat wearing, Jace has started to answer us with a new response...."Huh?" he says it like "huh? what do you think.....yes!" LOL its cute!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jace's laugh! I usually get caught up in enjoying it too much to record the sweet sound of it. At dinner the other night I was simply slapping the table and he thought it was hilarious! I think it was because I was scaring him at first but he continued to think it was funny!

I had today off since Jace's MRI and Renal Ultrasound was scheduled for today. This usually is an ALL day process. Since they have to sedate him for the MRI he was not allowed to eat after midnight and only clear liquids up until 7 am. We had to check in at 9 am.

To help get his mind off eating breakfast, his favorite and always biggest meal of the day, we watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
He has really started to like this show. Its funny how he tends to have favorite shows and he only just recently really started to like WATCHING tv.

I had to throw this video in from last week - I walked in the living room and Jace was singing and dancing to the Hot Dog Dance by himself!

Watching MMC before heading out to the hospital
Even though I know we don't have to stay at the hospital and Jace is not being admitted I still get sick to my stomach when I go to the Med Center area. Even driving through the area when we took him to the zoo I felt that way. It brings up an anxiety I can't seem to contain. I guess I shouldn't expect anything else since we have dealt with so much over there!

We were checked in to the Pedi Day Surgery and Jace was put in a playroom waiting room. This was GREAT! So much better than sitting and waiting in a boring room that just has a bed and stuff toddlers can NOT touch! :)

Waiting for his turn

Stacking the starts

"Don't look - my gown is a little big on me!"
Before the procedures they had to weight and measure his height. He has gotten BIG lately!
He weighs 33 lbs and is 34 inches tall!
He would not get in the scale himself so I had to do the trick I do at home. Got on the scale with him him then without and subtracted LOL

After they took him back and got him sedated it was just about lunch time. I walked down to Texas Children's Hospital because they have a Chick-fil-a inside - YUM! I was starving and I KNEW the procedures were going to take HOURS! The nurses try to tell me it will be an hour and a half but I have been there done that and know better! :)

After getting lunch I headed back to Memorial Hermann and waited for them to call me to see Jace in recovery. They always say they will come get me when he is starting to wake up but I have yet for that to happen. All the nurses I speak to say they want the parents there when the babies wake up so they don't freak on them! LOL

In Recovery
They told me to keep him on soft foods today since they did put him under and to gradually go up in stages with food. Since he needed to stick to soft foods I took him to McDonalds to play and eat fries and ice cream. He was starving even after drinking 3 cans of apple juice in recovery!

Finishing off the fries on the road home
I will follow up with the results I find out about the MRI and Renal Ultrasound!
