30 Month Check Up

Jace's 20 month check up was on Friday.
My friend Lisa was there with her little guy, Nathan for his 18 month check up.
Josh, her husband, was playing Angry Birds on his tablet and had the boys entranced.

He has lost a little weight since October but not too much to be a concern really.
There has been a lot going on since then - surgery and all.

He weighs 30 lbs. 6 oz. and is 35" tall. His head is still off the charts but that's genetic.
The bad part of this appointment was that Jace's sinus infection was back. He had finished his antibiotics last Saturday and started with nose again on Tuesday. His doctor said to do antibiotics again but this time for 14 days rather than just 10. I hope this kicks it this time.

On the way home Jace was being silly in the car seat. When its nap time and we are in the care, we tell him to go night night and he will just hang his head all crazy. It looks so uncomfortable but hes just playing around. Lately he has been saying "night night" and doing this on his own.

This weekend we went to Lexington. I finally finished the valance for the barn and was able to hang it up!

There are some things I did wrong but being that it was one of my first projects I am pretty proud of it!

Jace got a hold of JB's predator call. He has played with it before but used his voice rather than blowing air.
He figured it out this time! He's turning out to be quite a little hunter following in his daddy's footsteps.

This week I am 22 weeks with June Bug!
I still have moments when I am dressed that I just feel like I look fat and not pregnant.
I guess it doesn't help that its not obvious enough that people at work were not quite sure if I was pregnant.
Anyways - here is this week's belly shot!

Oh Baby Shower

This weekend was Ashlee's baby shower!
I was a hostess although after getting there I realized I didn't help much at all!
The shower was beautiful and so cute!

Here are a few pics of the shower

The tree was covered with baby items! This is such a cute idea!

Besides bringing chips and a 5 layer dip, I made a diaper cake for the shower.
I feel like I didn't really help "host" at all - that's ok though.
Ashlee had a fabulous shower and that is what matters!

I made Ashlee's gifts from inspirations on Pinterest.
I made a car seat canopy with a peek a boo window and some burp cloths.

I was getting my tissue paper and a gift bag from my closet so I could wrap the gifts up.
I turn around to leave my closet and I see that Jace threw two of the burp cloths in the toilet!!
This is the first thing he has EVER thrown in the toilet.
So....I of course had to wash them. I kind of wish I had washed them before sewing because the fabric laid on them differently after washing them. They did not turn out as great as I had liked but they are functional! :)

If you asked me 10 years ago if we would be pregnant at the same time I would have said I don't think so.
I am excited we get to share this special time with each other.

JB was out of town with a few buddies hunting and there was no way I could really help host a shower (much less enjoy the shower) with Jace. He got to go spend the day with his Aunt Mitty and Uncle Zane.
He really enjoyed him self and didn't want to come back home with me - that was a little heartbreaking.

I finally decided on the fabric for the nursery!
Its pretty neutral and I can easily add pink bows later if June Bug is a girl.

The crib skirt will be green and the paisley fabric (with chocolate piping)

and the curtains with be chocolate and paisley fabric (with green piping)

I think its going to be GORGEOUS! I need to get started on cutting it before I get too big to get down on the floor to cut fabric! LOL

On Saturday Jace helped me make pancakes. He loved to watch them bubble up while they cooked!
And I loved to hear him pick up the new word "cancake" (pancake).
I am amazed more and more everyday when he has a new word that can be understood clearly.

I noticed this evening that he is starting to say short sentences. They are VERY simple but still!
Just 2 months ago he was barely learning new words and now he is putting sentences together like:
"That is a tractor" or "Theres the star"
Its not the clearest but we understand him!
This makes my heart just fill with joy. We are so blessed! As each day passes I feel more and more confident in the choice we made to go through with his surgery.
Yesterday made 2 months since his surgery and today makes him 2 1/2 years old!

Jace loves to see how big he is and standing by his growth chart. I never mark unless I see a difference.
We don't really have a set time that I check it....just as he feels like it. I do try to mark his birthday and 1/2 birthdays on there.

He is ALMOST 3 feet tall!
Ok he has 2 inches to go but look how much he has grown in the past 6 months!

I forgot to post about this last week.
Jace's PT reevaluated him and said we don't have to use the braces anymore!
YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!
She will come back to see how he is in 3 months (unless we need her before then).
In 3 months she would like to see some of an arch starting on his foot. He is still pretty flat footed - not unusual at this age which is why she wants to see he is progressing as he should.
His right foot is BARELY turned in more than the left but she said if she was not LOOKING for it no one would see. He is no longer clumsy like he was before and his legs really have straightened after surgery.
Honestly its hard to tell if it was the surgery or the inch he seemed to grow the past few months!
Either way we will take it!

He also started back with Speech therapy. She is pleased with how talkative Jace is. He is much more focused for her and retains more. This I KNOW is due to surgery!
I am excited to see his progress with his speech therapy!

June Bug is a ......

......Beautiful Baby!
We went back and forth on wanting to find out what we were having but decided not to.
We enjoy the suspense, it will give me incentive to push when that time gets here and I can't wait to hear Justin announce what the baby it when its born!!! :)
We had our 20 week anatomy scan today and everything looks great!
With all the measurements the baby is measuring 6 days sooner than my estimated due date (June 5th). No surprise considering part of the measurements are from the head. We all know that Justin AND Jace have huge heads ;)
June Bug was head down and so CUTE! Kept its hands by the face a lot until the tech giggled my belly LOL
Here are some pics from the ultrasound today:

Waving HI!

Cutest profile ever ;)

Crossed legs - the baby is much more modest than Jace was!

BABY FEET!

Alien face

Since she had a somewhat difficult time getting a face shot she switched over to 3D

Does that not look SO much like Jace did as a baby??

And this week's belly shot! 20 Weeks......wow!
Half way through - where did the time go!?

So now to play catch up.
I have been crafting and making things for my BFF, Patti's, 40th birthday and my other BFF, Ashlee's, baby shower! I am finally done with most all of that so I can finally hope on here and blog.

A couple weeks ago I had girls night with Patti and Lisa (before Patti's birthday) and JB had daddy duty.
So, I know how quick Jace can wreck his room and over time it can just go down hill even farther.......so when I got home from girls night - this is what I saw:

Jace was proud! LOL

That girls night out for me turned into all weekend daddy duty for JB. I came down with a tummy bug and boy was that rough! Its one thing to have a tummy bug but to be pregnant on top of that? YUCK!
Also, Jace started with a nasty snotty nose that quickly turned into a sinus infection and bronchiolitis.
A trip to the pedi had us worried quick. He sounded wheezy and they said if a breathing treatment didn't help we would have to get a chest x-ray done. Thankfully the breathing treatment made the wheezing sound looser so it was working as it should. They prescribed an antibiotic and breathing treatments.
Both medications together were almost $400! We were given coupons for this making our cost $25 for both! What a blessing!
However when I got to Walgreens they told me the coupon system was down. Well being an emotional hormonal person I got all teary eyed. LOL I still can't believe how emotional I got over all this. Eventually it was all transerred to CVS and we didn't get the breathing treatment meds since that coupon was expired.
Since I had to wait to get in touch with the pedi the next day to get a generic we did a stream room treatment

He is so silly! :)

He did great when we got the breathing treatment meds......he wore his mask and all!

Thursday night was the party for Patti's 40th! Lisa and I put together a little Chanel themed party.
Lisa etched some martini glasses with the Chanel C's but we didn't get a picture of that.
Happy 40th Birthday Patti!

We bought Jace his first baseball hat. We were not sure he would like it.....
he not only likes it but he LOVES it!

This past weekend we went to a birthday party for Kaden and Parker.
Kaden turned 3 and Parker turned 1.
It was Pirates and Fairy themed....the party was CUTE! I didn't get many pictures of the party but it was done well. Jace had so much fun with all the kids there.
Since was ina  crafting mood I made a few cards to go on thier gifts :)

Jace playing on the tractor at the party

Sunday we went over to Kendra and Kelly's to watch the Texans game.
Jace was ready to cheer the team on!

Jace's bedtime routine is PJs, book then prayer. He knows when we get to prayer its time for bed and has started to be so upset about this. We caught a funny clip of this on JB's phone:

I hope to post again after the shower to share my crafts from that! :)

Sew Much Fun!

Friday I had a chance to go to my friend, Lisa's house. She taught me how to use a sewing machine.
I have NEVER EVER used a sewing machine and to be quite honest they gave me anxiety.
Lisa calmed my nerves and slowly taught me what did what and how to do the basics.

After a few basics we started on a toddler pillowcase.
I have been wanting another pillowcase for Jace's little pillow.
This pillow was for his bed at home but I decided to switch him to a big pillow and send his little one to daycare for naps.

We made this pillowcase with French seams. So its all clean and nicely put together.
I was so impressed with how well it came out.
Bonus is that I LOVED sewing! I think I can really get into it.

I chose this pattern for his pillowcase. It is SUPER cute!!
The blue will be the trim and the red is for the cuff.

The finished pillowcase

This is for me mommy?!?

I LOVE IT! Can I wear it?

Justin and I have been looking into getting another vehicle.
A 2 door car just isn't family friendly and we eventually will want more children so while we can do it we went ahead and found a great deal on a Ford Expedition.
Friday night we went to pick it up!

As JB would say Its Clean on the outside, Cream on the inside.

The paperwork took WAY longer than expected. We ended up eating dinner at 59 Diner.

Daddy and Jace getting ready for a yummy burger!

Yesterday Jace was scheduled for a 23 hour EEG.
We checked in at 8 am and by 9:30 he was hooked up to the EEG.

Even though the hook up was not too smooth, once that was over he seemed to pick back up.

Smiley Scuba boy!

Coloring to pass the time........

Dinner time - Grilled Cheese and French Fries

Despite not having much room to REALLY get all his energy out he still crashed at 7:30!
He slept pretty well. He was up and down a few times until midnight.
After that he stayed sound asleep until about 5:30. It was WAY better than I thought it would have been.

We checked out this morning at 8:30. Jace and I were SO excited to see Justin come to get us and leave!

The worst part of the EEG is this mess left in Jace's hair!

We are learning the tricks to getting it out quicker though.
We put baby oil in his hair, let it soak in, comb it and wash it.
It takes a few combing and some time but it comes out.

Justin sat in the tub with Jace and worked on washing and getting oil into his hair.
He really was able to get the glue loosened up.

I was able to get the comb though Jace's hair while he ate pudding at snack and then again after dinner when he ate some ice cream. I got all the glue out of his hair! Well there are a few flakes but there are none stuck to his scalp.

From what we understand the EEG will be read this week and we will know something by next week.
I don't expect result too quickly but I may be pleasantly surprised.
